Item description: Embroidery and weaving are a great opportunity for women to earn an income in rural India. The art of embroidery has been handed down over generations and the pieces the women make would sell for hundreds and thousands of dollars in the U.S., but because there are no clear market linkages to urban markets, middle men buy them for cents. The Self Employed Women's Association (SEWA) is working to connect the rural artisans to the urban market.

Signed copy of A Field Guide to the Birds: East of the Rockies by Roger Tory Peterson
Item description: After his optometrist suggested birding to improve his eyesight, Peterson began the first series of field guides that included flight patterns, silhouettes, sounds, and field markings, making bird watching accessible to all of us. This 1980 copy, considered one of the last definitive works, is signed by the author just before his death in 1996. The hardcover text is in “excellent” condition with a book cover in “good” condition.
