Neel & Jill Partner with Della Village
Della is a village of about 2000 small agricultural and cattle farmers in Gujarat, India. The lack of clean drinking water has been a major problem for the communities living in Della, as the only source of water for the entire village is a nearby well two kilometers away. Women, therefore, must walk to the well at least twice a day to obtain a sufficient amount of water for daily family use. Time and energy lost in this daily endeavor prevents them from earning an income support their family.
Sanitation is another major problem in the village, as there are no toilets in Della. As a result, villagers have to walk long distances to relieve themselves. Such lack of sanitation makes the village dirty and unhygienic, increasing the possible outbreak of disease. Della needs toilets in the village, in addition to a general cleaning of the village to reduce health hazards.
This project will support the construction of a system of Roof Rainwater Harvesting Tanks in addition to restoration of the village well; both are necessary to improve the health and quality of life of the communities in Della. Roof Rainwater Harvesting will allow families in Della to collect, store, and use the rainwater from the monsoon season during periods of drought. This improvement, along with repairs to the village well, will provide families with clean drinking water at their fingertips.
Join Neel and Jill, and partner with Della village to provide the basic water and sanitation infrastructure required to support a healthy and positive community.
